24th NOVI SAD MARATHON

  24th NOVI SAD MARATHON, 10/16/2016.

My participation in this year’s marathon went well. I ran the race of 25,5 km, more like a training. Chilly and rainy weather soothed most of the runners, including me. I tried hard enough, but anyway it’s not my maximum. I finished the race at 1:53:12 according to my timing, I took 5th place in men category, and in absolute category of 113, or 154 participants I was 5th as well, which was a surprise to me. However it should be noted that competition in this race was not strong, and that almost all the stronger runners,ran marathon, only Mihal Šulja who was preparing for the European ultramarathon next weekend ran this race and also won convincingly with about 1:39.

It felt good running wide streets of Novi Sad: Kej first, then Limans, a new boulevard, between the New settlement, Satellite and Telep then, to Veternik, so back to the city. It was somewhat hard last 4 kilometers, and it was annoying to wait until we find things in the tent, because I was wet and it was cold. Massage was pleasant. Pasta party, where I was with Eleonora, has been good, and t-shirt was great to me this year. The marathon winner is Sinisa Radivojevic with 2:38:58, while my friend Dimitrije was fourth with 2:51:30. If I was not two week before that ran in Kosice, I believe I would run this race well also, below the 3 and a half hours for sure. I am glad that regarding Novi Sad Marathon I tried almost all tracks including my fifth participation: 10, 5km, 25, 5km, 34km, 42,2km and once I gave up. (2011, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016).
