About me

About me

My name is Dominik Deman. I was born in Novi Sad 05.07.1977., And grew up in Petrovaradin where I finished elementary school. After finishing high school of economics “Svetorzar Miletic,” I studied history at the Faculty of Philosophy in Novi Sad and theology at the TKI Subotica. After completed studies at both institutions I gained the title of mr history and theology graduate – catechist. I work in Subotica in Chemical Technology School as a history teacher.

During my studies, mainly in the warmer periods of the year, I started to run, or at the beginning it was more jogging. After getting a job in Subotica I occasionally returned to this activity as a hobby just during the holidays. At the end of May 2011, I started to run for the umpteenth time, and as of today I had continuity even during the winter time. Breaks were only in case of illness and injury. Since jogging increasingly expanded  in our country, the first incentives for participation in a race I found on interesting sites for the subject.

The first official race at about 11 km I ran out in October 2011 in Novi Sad, a first half-marathon in Sombor in May 2012. The first finished marathon was my 4th Night marathon in Novi Sad in June 2013. Since then, I usually opt for participation in a marathon race, although occasionally I run the half marathons too. Since the autumn of 2013. I am a member of the Recreational Athletic Club Tron from Palic. I met a lot of people who are engaged in running, and to triathlon  at some extent, so their experiences, advices and support have given me motivation and help in training and racing.

In addition to running, my great hobby are books and history of the sport. Besides the world famous runners abroad and in our country alike, that I have read about or watched, and that I will not mention all here, to some extent my role model in this sport is prof. Zoran Janković from Kula, a very experienced and well-known marathon and ultra marathon runner , and also a historian.

Despite the progress in this sport, the results are still modest and me at amateur level, but I’d like to run until it is a pleasure to me, and while I can, and to avoid the trap of becoming an obsession that would cause burden on the result.
