29th Plitvice marathon 06.01.2014.

On Sunday, June 1st, 2014

held on 29th Plitvice marathon.

My first international marathon (the first overseas)
fourth finished marathon on toughest terrain. This
Marathon is probably one of the hardest in the former
Yugoslavia (SFRJ). It is a good feeling to run it. Nature is
beautiful. Race is on asphalt but surrounded with forests, lakes,
small villages, Korana river canyon. Start and finish are in the
small village Mukinje.

The first 9 kilometers of trails (tracks)
going downhill and is not particularly difficult. After crossing
bridge on Korana begins to rise. From 9th to 10th kilometer
mainly rises uphill, after is a part with a smaller descent,
or substantially flat. Second major ascent starts from 17th
kilometer and lasts until around 20th kilometer. Then
prevailing downhill or flat slope to 38th kilometer,
when it starts to climb to the goal. I went without any major crises.
The weather was chilly, the morning before the race and after falling
heavy rain, while during the race it was falling only a little.

At the 10th kilometer my time was 0:50 min, at 20th
kilometer 1:47:01 and 3:32:36 at the 40th kilometer.
I had the strength to go faster in finish and catch up one
Pole. I took 119th place in the overall standings,
and 105th in men category.
I am very pleased with the result.
